FOUNDING STORY

WHY I STARTED AWAN

AWAN started because I was on a never-ending search. I was looking for clothes that were comfy enough to wear at home, yet stylish enough to wear anywhere else. It seemed impossible to find.

So, I decided to do something about it. I launched AWAN through Kickstarter and later as an online brand. And I quickly realized I wasn't the only one in this search. Hundreds of women shared the same frustration.

But what really hit me was the direct link between the lack of comfort and versatility in clothing and the enormous problem of overproduction, a massive sustainability challenge in the fashion industry today.

In 2019 AWAN was accepted into the Antler accelerator in Stockholm. We became the only Norwegian fashion brand in their global VC portfolio, and it was a clear sign we were onto something big.

And before I knew it, we were on an ambitious mission to disrupt the fashion industry with an e-commerce startup and a comfort-first fashion concept built on circular principles 😅
