The secret behind comfortable work clothes for women

I’ve never understood why looking professional has to mean wearing stiff clothes you can’t wait to take off as soon as you get home.

Unless your workplace has a super-formal (and, let’s be honest, outdated) dress code, many of us want clothes that look presentable and still feel like us.

For me, comfortable work clothes have to pass a simple test: can I get on with my day without being distracted or bothered by what I’m wearing?

A dress might be your easiest fix

A dress is one piece, which means one less decision. I like an adjustable wrap because you can tie it to suit yourself, and pockets are always welcome.

At As We Are Now (AWAN), that kind of ease is built into the pieces we make. The Wrap Dress has an adjustable wrap shape, midi length and deep pockets. It works for a smart-casual day, or when you’re presenting on stage. Whether you’re a lawyer, CEO, artist or teacher.

A cardigan that does two jobs

The Wrap Cardigan can be worn as a top or layered as a cardigan. Check the product page for current fit, colours and sizes.

Trousers should let you move comfortably

A good waistband can make or break a workday. Check how your trousers feel when you sit, eat and walk, not just how they look when you’re posing in front of the mirror.

The length matters too.

The AWAN Flow Pants have a soft elastic waistband and a full-length, wide-leg shape. The Cropped Flow Pants are ankle length, though where they fall will depend on your height.

Getting dressed easily

You don’t need a colour-coded wardrobe spreadsheet. A few tops and bottoms that work well together can be enough. Keep the colours simple if that helps, and add a layer you can wear more than one way.

The aim is to feel comfortable and appropriate for the work you’re doing, without feeling you have to become a different person to do it.

Our collection is practical and presentable enough for work, soft and comfortable enough for lounging, and elegant enough for dressing up.

Which pretty much means you can work in some of your softest, most elegant and practical outfits every day of the week 😉
